This recording was made in the afternoon during a rainshower under my carport in louisiana. The rain is striking three different surfaces in this track: cement, roofing and plantlife. Now, i'm no pro, nor is my equipment (olympus ws-310m w/ built in mic), so discerning these different sounds is difficult. You can hear the dripping from rain: fast drip in the background of this track. However slight, there is also a noticeable electronic note which is simultaneous with the water striking these surfaces. You can also hear slight rustling sounds that could be wind or my shirt moving near the mic (i was wearing the device on a lanyard). The file is wav, recorded in stereo at 16 bit at 44. 1mhz.

I was demoing the new digital performer 10. 1 with a royer r-10 pair in blumlein array but wanted to check out one of the ribbons because it possibly sounded blown so i went ahead not bothering to create a new mono file. The mic was tracked through a yamaha mixer into digital performer via a motu 624. I have various cymbals including a paiste hi-hat and a zildjian ride which i bowed or scraped. There is an occasional tiny bit of noise from the hard drive, sorry. It has the hiccups. Some of these have an effect or two like a flange on one or more and a bit of delay but mostly you just hear the marvelous and very interesting cymbals!.

I made noise with my teeth hopefully it sounds like its a squish or squirt that was what i was going for. It was created on audacity with my blue yeti microphone. It was done at home i simply pushed my tongue against my teeth simple and got really close to the mic. You don't have to do this, but i would like for you to tell me what its being used for if its not too much trouble.

Sennheiser mkh 8040/mkh 30 ms in a cinela pianissimo windshield into a sound devices 744t; limiters on, no hpf. Stereo-linked 50-50 blend. Normalized to 0dbfs with spot noise removal on birds during the drive-by in rx5, tail left unprocessed. No other processing of any kind. This sound effect acts as a demonstration of this stereo pair mic combination right out of the box.

Some atmos i took for a recent video. I didn't edit out me fumbling with the mic (tascam dr07) but it's a solid 2 minutes of outside sounds. You can hear little drops of rain and a wind chime, as well as cars driving through puddles down the street.

Recording of the rotation motor on a dynamic perception motion control rig. Recorded with a sennheiser ew100g3 wireless cardioid mic on a zoom h6. Minimal post production with just a highpass filter to remove some of the very low end sound in the background. Kind of reminds me of the scene where neo leaves the matrix for the first time.

It's a recording of a calcium-sandoz® forte/fuerte 500 mg effervescent tabled falling into a glass of water and dissolving. You can hear the tablet dropping into the water and water droplet hitting water surface back. After w while - co2 buubles start to appear creating noisy sound. The recording has a long natural fadeout and unfortunately some background noise. I leaved "silence" before the sound starts so you can de-noise the recording to your needs (i prefer audacity for denoisig). Recorded inside of my wardrobe for acoustic isolation using zoom h2 on a mic-stand. Recoded as 96khz/24-bit wav. Normalized, truncated and convertet do 16-bit flac using audacity. I've converted this to 16-bit as it still has plenty of noise and 24-bits would not be any better after normalization.

I have been hearing an animal or two beneath my bathtub for some time now. Today i discovered who it was. Leaving my apartment building this afternoon, i saw a cat sized racoon carrying her baby under the walkway. I went back inside and set up a microphone aimed at the floor by my bathtub. Methodology: shure sm58 into focusrite and recorded via ableton. Noise removed in audacity. I have a horrendous ground loop situation. In the future i may try to mic from below the apartment so that it isn't so muffled by the floor. Some noise comes from how much i had to amplify the signal to make it heard.

I made this recording with my newly acquired $10 primo em172 omni mic capsules, which i soldered to a cable diy loosely based on this tutorial:http://www. Wildmountainechoes. Com/equipment/diy-stereo-electret-mics-primo-em-172-capsules/this is a good example of what the capsules sound like when plugged directly into an inexpensive zoom h1 audio recorder. So far i've been pretty stunned by the performance of these capsules, which are significantly more sensitive than the built in microphones on the h1, and to my ears sound much less muddy. I'm particularly impressed by this because the capsules are running on the 2. 5v of plug-in power that the h1 delivers, which is below the minimum specs of the capsules. Even so there is remarkably little noise. I can only imagine how they would sound with a battery pack to deliver a full 5 volts!.

This is my recreation of the noise in the background of a video shot on a consumer grade minidv camcorder (a well used one). I haven't had a minidv camcorder on hand for a few years and nobody i knew would give me a recording of just tape motor noise so i went to create the noise myself. This sound is a combination of a very badly pressed dvd in my computer's drive mixed with a tone made in audacity (up one octave from the tone that the disc ended up creating), all mixed down and brought down in volume. I know it's not a prefect recreation, but i don't have a minidv camcorder on hand so this is about as good as i can get it. If anyone has access to an anechoic chamber, a fresh tape, and a well used consumer grade minidv camcorder, please get in touch with me. I'd like the real deal better than my recreation that i did in my spare time. Note on recreating the noise out of hdv camcorders. They have slightly different hardware and as such will create different bearing noise (most times, there's an extra whine on top of the familiar bearing whine heard from standard dv camcorders). I forget the exact frequency, but it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 840hz-860hz and it's a sort of sine wave, but a modest bit more jagged. You'll have to provide your own stock camcorder mic hiss as each camcorder is different (not for definite sure on sony camcorders, but canon camcorders have a pink-ish white noise in about that era).

A single long happy contented sigh of a man aged between 30 and 45. Imagine he's sliding into a hot bath. Or taking a sip from a well deserved cup of coffee. He's a very happy man. Recorded at home on a rode nta1 mic using adobe audition cs6 on a pc. The voice is my own, the only edit was a cleaning of bg noise on the record and a trim to remove extraneous sound.

This is a 4 mic recording taken inside a pachinko parlor in akasaka, tokyo. There are so many loud machines and the background music is so loud that you can hardly make out individual sounds and the entire space is just a wash of noise. If you listen closely to this one you can hear some of the individual balls dropping. (when you play pachinko, you win metal balls which can be exchanged for cash later. ).

This was recorded in a small, underground brick wine cellar during a wine-tasting event in europe. While the language spoken in the clip is slovak, it's impossible to pick out any indivdiual conversations, so this could be used as background noise in any project. A classic movie punch sound recreated by hitting a leather car seat with a cricket bat. Recorded using a rode k2 tube mic and a schoeps cmc6, driving the preamps hard and compressing the input, then heavily compressing a number of takes using analog-emulation plugins (including a fairchild 660) and running the mix through waves maxxbass. Then limiting some more and finally adding the swoosh of a riding crop and a non-linear reverb noise tail.

An up-close recording of a single cricket chirping. I recorded this with a shure beta 57a microphone, at my house, with the mic a few inches away from one of my housemate's crickets (don't ask). I used cubase and izotope denoise to remove noise artifacts, as well as a low-cut to remove unwanted low freqs. You can hear the sport live commentary broadcasted from television, people expressing their emotions with their voices. Clapping their hands, cheering their team (poland) and generally making a lot of interesting noises as they watch the game. Recorded with zoom h2 in 2-channel surround mode. Originally 24-bit wav, normalized and converted to 24-bit flac with audacity. I have reduced the mic gain at 0:56 to ensure i will not have a clipped recording. So i recently got a new portable recorder (sony pcm-d100). Early one spring morning, i could hear a woodpecker crystal clear from inside my room, with my noise canceling headphones still snug on my head. So naturally, i did a lil ambient recording. Since it was spring, the rich chorus of birdsongs made it, in my book, a freesound-worthy file. I didn't process this very much, except wrapping it around near the end so it could seamlessly loop back, and eqing it to bring out the birds more and soften the mic-noise. In case you're curious, it's a pileated woodpecker!.

This was recorded by holding a small pcm recorder (zoom h1n) very close to an ipod 4th generation. The ipod was turned on and its hard drive tried to start up. You can hear the spin up of the motor and the hard drive head clicking back and forth. The hard drive fails to power up completely and eventually shuts down again. A 350 hz high pass filter was applied, in addition to audacity noise reduction, to get this clean motor noise from the original recording. The stereo file was then mixed to mono because the mic was slightly off center from the ipod, and the stereo provides no benefit. The hard drive in this ipod is a 1. 8" 40 gb toshiba hard drive, the ipod model is a1059. The microphone was held just 3 cm (1. 2 in) from the ipod. Recording settings were stereo 44. 1 khz at 16 bit (wav format). The file is the same except it's mono.

Non-functional tube radio warming up, making a loud 60hz hum with lots of harmonics. As a bonus it clicks off at the end. Zenith consoltone. Only because the faq says so: electro voice n/d 257a through impedance transformer into crappy gigabyte motherboard realtek high definition audio. 16bits, processed at 32bits. Audacity sound editor and/or driver wouldn't record mic level so it was very noisy after amplification. Filtered with a (mathematically equivalent) fft constructed whopping 64k length zero phase filter (blackman window) with 5 wavelength width bandpass at each harmonic from 60hz to 5,520hz. For some reason a fraction of some of the harmonics didn't get through so did another pass on the residual noise and mixed that in. Near the beginning there was a sort of brief duplicate signal that descended in pitch so it didn't make it through the filter. I added that bit in. Attenuated frequencies above 3. 6khz because they are pretty much noise, but removing them didn't sound right. Cleaned up the beginning a bit in various ways, cut it down to 15 sec and carefully appended the unfiltered "click" onto the end, which i denoised 12db with audacity's noise reduction.

I was fortunate though to both see and hear this guy as he was perched in a tree at the edge of a heavy forest. I heard a strong sounding grasshopper in a neighbor's busch i run into my house and picked up my recorder and mic and run out tried coming closest possible for good sound, but it was a little too close because the hopper become silent. Some suggested sound design use cases: run this through granular fx for a nice drone texture. Use as an impulse response for a convolution reverb (then run tones through the convolution). Early spring thunderstorm in north central oklahoma recorded on 05/02/2018 starting at about 9:30 pm cdt. Recorded in the middle of the country by placing a mic outside the man cave window of my house. The storm starts with light rain and some medium distance thunder. At about 4:00 mins the wind starts to pick up and by 5 mins the wind sound drowns out everything else (50-60 mph gusts). By 6:00 mins the wind is fading as the storm front passes. By 9:00 mins it’s just soft rain and occasional thunder. At about 13:00 mins, the thunder starts picking up a bit. At about 17:00 mins it starts raining harder again, with occasional thunder, until the end. A couple of human noises were edited out, and noise reduction was applied.

This is one of the very few canarian permanent waterfalls. It is located in los tilos forest, a biosphere reserve within las nieves natural park in la palma (canary islands, spain). It's about 25 meters tall and flows into a gorge covered by a thick laurel forest (laurisilva), a tropical ecosystem full of trees and ferns resembling jurassic park. A short clip of a recording i made from my cbf600 motorcycle gearbox and chain. You can hear gearbox wine (normal), the sound of the chain running over the drive sprocket, some gear shifts and a little wind noise. I recorded it to see what it sounded like. It can make a good reference with which to compare should you think there is a problem in the future. I like the sound of the engine running and gears, normally drowned out by the exhaust. I clipped the mic to the gear lever. If i do it again i will place it further away from the sprocket.

This is about 2 minutes total. It is of an approaching long freight train passing about 100 yards away in it's entirety. Train was doing around 45 mph. There are no other background sounds, no traffic, no crossing alarms, no street noise, no airplanes, no people, etc. There are three diesel electric locomotives in the front, then about a mile of freight cars, then one diesel electric locomotive "pushing" from the rear (it almost sounds like a jet engine!).
